How to Find Your Purpose in the Rubble
I haven’t pondered this question my whole life. Not consciously.
But I realize now—it was always there.
The Universal Question: Why Am I Here?
The search for why.
Why am I here?
What am I supposed to do with this one wild, untamable life?
How do I make it matter?
The Different Ways People Seek Purpose
Divine Revelation: When Purpose Finds You
Some people find the answer in a way that defies logic. A dream. A vision. A voice so clear it shakes them awake. The divine reaches in and places the answer right into their trembling hands.
The Seekers: Searching Through Life’s Experiences
Others—maybe most—go searching. We are told from the moment we can walk: go, try, experience, explore. Taste everything. Collect the pieces of life like seashells on the shore and trust that somewhere, one of them will hold the key.
Waiting for the Moment of Clarity
And then… there are the rest of us.
The ones who keep moving through ordinary days, waiting for the sky to crack open. The ones who live in that in-between space, neither chasing nor finding, wondering if purpose will arrive in a holy moment that changes everything.
When Life Breaks You Open
But here’s the truth I didn’t want to face:
Purpose doesn’t always arrive like a lightning bolt. Sometimes, it comes through the slow breaking apart of the life you thought you wanted.

For me, purpose lived in the shadows I didn’t want to look at. The childhood wounds. The abandonment. The violence that stole my sense of safety. The wrong turns, the wrong careers, the wrong people. The parts of my life I tried to bury deep enough that no one—including me—would ever have to see them again.
But they didn’t stay buried.
They became the compass.
The Truth About Finding Purpose
I didn’t know it then, but the pain was the map leading me back to myself. The unraveling was sacred.
Why Your Wounds Might Hold the Answer
The pain I wanted to escape became the very thing that pointed me toward my calling. It was the teacher I didn’t ask for but desperately needed.
How Pain Becomes the Compass to Your Calling
When I finally looked—really looked—at the mess of it all, I realized what had been waiting for me all along:
My voice.
That was my purpose.
My Own Journey to Purpose
The Voice I Was Afraid to Use
It was the words I was too afraid to speak.
The truth I thought would break me if I said it out loud.
The story I didn’t believe I was allowed to tell.
That was where the calling lived.
And it terrified me.
Because using your voice doesn’t just awaken you. It awakens everyone who has been hiding from themselves. It shakes the foundations of everything built on silence.
The Fear and Freedom of Living Your Truth
But the thing about purpose is this:
It keeps knocking.
It keeps rising from the rubble until you can’t ignore it anymore.
What If This Is Your Knock?
So maybe this is your knock.
Maybe you landed here because your soul is tired of waiting. Because there is something inside you that knows you came here for more than survival.
And maybe, just maybe, you’re ready to find it.
